DAVID L. BOGATY
After working for two years on Wall Street, David L. Bogaty (from Portland, Oregon), a graduate of the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, decided to become an entrepreneur at 25. In 1993 he founded Metracom with three partners. Based in Boston, the company’s business model was reselling AT & T’s national long distance services. As director of New Business Development, owner and member of the Board of Directors, Mr. Bogaty helped Metracom move from an idea to a $ 20 million company. Mr. Bogaty developed the Puerto Rico office for Metracom without assistance. Later he bought all the assets of Metracom in Puerto Rico and incorporated it as WorldNet Telecommunications, Inc. Inspired by the opportunities of a completely new market, he began to build the company with a vision: “A highly successful company, committed to excellence, integrity , attention and teamwork”.
Carlos Ortiz has more than two decades of experience in the telecommunications industry, including the last seven years working in WorldNet. Prior to joining WorldNet, Ortiz worked in a variety of technology and telecommunications companies, including Wang Computers, MCI International, Newcomm Wireless (Movistar) and PRWireless (Open Mobile). He is currently Director of Information Technology, Commercial Alliance Director and Wholesale Director, responsible for technological development, implementation and commercial support throughout the organization.
Javier Santos is an expert in strategic sales in the commercial and business sectors, with more than 13 years of experience, including the last two years working in WorldNet. Before joining WorldNet, he worked in telecommunications companies such as AT & T, Claro, Sprint Puerto Rico and Sprint Boston. As our Commercial Director, he is responsible for delivering critical business objectives and increasing market share.
Manuel Fraguada spent 10 years at Centennial / AT & T, before joining the WorldNet team in 2010. He has a BA in Economics from the University of Puerto Rico and a Masters in Business Administration from the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico. He is now in charge of Customer Service, Facilities, Project Management and Technical Support in WorldNet.
María del Carmen Hernández
María del Carmen Hernández has developed her career in WorldNet since her arrival in 2002. She started with a part-time job in the Billing Department and continued to grow to become Comptroller. Her bachelor’s degree is in Business Administration from the University of Puerto Rico at Río Piedras, and she is a Certified Public Accountant since 2008.
With over 20 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, Rolando Texidor worked 11 years at Centennial de Puerto Rico / AT&T before joining the WorldNet team in 2009. Rolando holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing from the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico. Within his career at WorldNet, Rolando held the position of Product Manager and now serves as Marketing Director.
President After 15 years in WorldNet, as Vice President of Finance, Operations and Information, María de los Ángeles Virella was named president of the company in 2015. Authorized Public Accountant with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Puerto Rico, Virella had been Comptroller and held various positions related to finance in several industries before joining WorldNet. His experience in banking and distribution, for example, has been very valuable and has allowed him to make significant contributions to WorldNet.
Technical Support Director
Enrique García worked as an independent consultant for three years and at the Puerto Rico Telephone Company for 20 years, before joining WorldNet in 2003. During his 14 years of service at WorldNet, he has been Network Administrator, Information Technology Manager, Director of the Cloud and Director of Technical Development. He has a Master’s Degree in Network Security and currently teaches at the Interamerican University (Metro and Bayamón Campus), in addition to leading our Technical Support Division
José J. Vázquez
Commercial and Financial Operations Dir.
Before joining WorldNet in 2005, José J. Vázquez worked for MoviStar, in several positions in Finance and Customer Service. He has been part of three implementations of operating systems in the local telecommunications industry, being the most recent in WorldNet in 2014.
Human Resources Director
Martín Ortiz has more than 15 years of experience working in Human Resources for multinational and local companies. He has a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Puerto Rico. Prior to joining WorldNet in 2015, he worked for Pfizer, CEMEX, MMM Holdings and Cardinal Health, among other companies. He is currently the Human Resources Director and Senior Human Resources Partner at WorldNet, responsible for identifying potential leaders and guaranteeing a smooth and profitable operation within the company’s Human Resources Department.
Engineering and Planning Director
Eduardo has a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico (BSEE) and is a Licensed Engineer (PE). He has over 20 years of experience in the telecommunications industry and worked for the Puerto Rico Telephone Company joining the WorldNet team in 2004. Within his career in WorldNet, Eduardo has been in charge of different areas within the engineering group, and he was an essential part in the design and implementation of what is now the WorldNet network, making it the ideal candidate to take the reins of the department as a whole.
